'Talking Traffic' goes live in Netherlands

More than 1.2 million Dutch road users are now able to receive personalised warnings of traffic jams ahead, stationary traffic and suddenly changing local weather conditions. 

It's the first live service to be launched by Talking Traffic, a partnership between the Dutch ministry for Infrastructure, 60 regional and local governments, and a large number of national and international companies (including KPN, Siemens and Ericsson). 

The partnership aims to speed up the development of intelligent traffic signals and the distribution of real-time traffic data, thus improving both the safety and sustainability of traffic.
