Alumni Actively Promoting Scholarships to Holland
Holland alumni actively participated in the promotional activities at the Holland Scholarship Day in Jakarta on January 19, 2019. From alumni sharing session to how to write a motivation letter, Holland alumni played a vital part in the event at the Erasmus Huis last Saturday.Three alumni shared their experience and strategies to apply for scholarships to the Netherlands. Steffi Grace Darmawan, a StuNed awardee 2017, said that after working for eight years, she felt that the world was developing very rapidly and this encouraged her to broaden her knowledge. So she went to study International Business Law at Tilburg University.LPDP Awardee 2016 Yulia shared some very useful tips on how to apply for scholarships, and one of them was, to be honest with yourself. Before applying for scholarships, one has to know which programme that they would like to study. She studied MSc Urban Management and Development at the Institute for Housing and Development Studies (IHS), Erasmus University Rotterdam and currently works as an urban strategic planner.Bryan Philma Stevy, an OTS awardee 2016 also shared some tips on how to manage time and money for those with partial scholarships. Bryan went to study International Business and Management at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in 2016. He further explained that setting a good strategy is essential, including having a back-up plan when you can not get your desired scholarship.Apart from the alumni sharing on stage, visitors could also ask alumni at the alumni booth. Steffi, Bryan, Heru Ramanda and Tifani Dame Hasany were enthusiastically answering questions from prospective students. Both Heru and Tifani are StuNed alumni who studied at IHE Delft Institute for Water Education and Erasmus University Rotterdam respectively. Many Holland alumni were also assisting the representatives of their universities, providing information and giving presentations.In the afternoon, StuNed awardee 2013 Henderi led the programme on How to Write a Motivation Letter. It was one of the most anticipated programmes at the Holland Scholarship Day, and Henderi explained through concise presentation followed by an example of his motivation letter to the university he applied. Henderi graduated with an MBA from Saxion University of Applied Sciences in 2014 and just like Heru, he is currently an active board member of I Am StuNed. Holland Scholarship Day was attended by almost 1,000 visitors and this showed that the enthusiasm to get scholarships to the Netherlands is still very high. The participation of Holland alumni is expected not only to keep this enthusiasm but also to encourage prospective students to get scholarships and later share the same inspiration to the next batch of prospective students.
