Connecting International Minds at the Holland Career Fair
The first Holland Career Fair was successfully organised last Saturday, March 23, 2019. With representatives from 15 multinational companies and more than 100 Holland alumni gathered to build up and develop their network, the event was expected to encourage further cooperation between Holland alumni and the Dutch business community. "The Holland Career Fair brings together (international) companies and the Holland Alumni community to give positive impact to the Indonesia skilled workforce,” said Holland alumni Hery Setiyaji. Furthermore, General Manager at PT Boskalis International Indonesia Hans Mooij noticed "the event made a mutually beneficial impact for us as companies looking for workers and job seekers for employment.”Apart from Boskalis, there are 14 other companies participated in the Holland Career Fair, namely ABNR, BeliMobilGue, Colliers International Indonesia, Danone, DHL, East West Seed Indonesia, Frisian Flag, Manulife, Perfetti van Melle, Royal HaskoningDHV, SNV, Super Indo, Youvit, and Zi-Argus.The event was co-organised by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Nuffic Neso Indonesia, and the Dutch Business Network. The main programme of the event was the job fair, where alumni looking for new career opportunities could meet company representatives directly and drop their CVs. Alumni were also invited to attend the company presentations to see which companies suit their educational backgrounds and professional expertise. The fair was officially opened by Matthijs Wiggers from Dutch Business Network, Indy Kateriamalia from the Dutch Embassy, and Nanya Burki from Nuffic Neso Indonesia.Prior to the job fair were a career workshop and CV review aimed to equip alumni before meeting company representatives and increasing their chances to be called for interviews. The CV review was a one-on-one session with a professional editor who checked alumni CVs and advised them how to tailor them for particular companies. Prior to the job fair Holland Alumni could attend a career workshop and CV review. The theme of the career workshop was “how to pitch yourself as a professional” with Edwin J Tanga from ejt & associates. The workshops were divided into two sessions, one for fresh graduates and one for mid-career professionals. The interactive workshop gave insights and motivations to alumni to highlight their personal and professional strengths. The CV review was a one-on-one session with a professional editor who checked alumni CVs and advised them how to tailor them for particular companies.
