Dutch NANC Members interview Prime Minister Rutte

Alumni news

On April 12, Nuffic Neso China/NANC, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Beijing Foreign Studies University have facilitated a meeting between Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and students in Beijing.

The event, called College Tour: Sino-Dutch Student Exchange with Prime Minister Rutte, was visited by approximately 60 Dutch NANC members and Chinese students who are studying the Dutch language. After a bike tour around the beautiful campus of BFSU, Prime Minister Mark Rutte gave students the opportunity to ask questions about any topic.

Rutte received questions of students about various topics, ranging from his favorite Dutch book to the current situation of Sino-Dutch politics. The Prime Minister answered the questions with an open view and a great sense of humor.

It was great to notice that Prime Minister Rutte recognizes the value of Dutch students and Chinese students pursuing a Netherlands-related study program as future Ambassadors of Sino-Dutch relations. All in all, it was a unique event, enjoyed by both the students and the Prime Minister.
