Holland Alumni Reception 2018 in Surabaya
In line with the Dutch Placement Day and European Higher Education Fair, the Holland Alumni Receptions returned this year in four cities: Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, and Yogyakarta. The receptions were a great success, with more than 400 attendees from the alumni community, Dutch Higher Education Institutions, and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This year's theme was "Sustainable Communities for Circular Economy", and to achieve a Circular Economy requires interdisciplinary expertise. The Holland Alumni Network is a vast community with members from very diverse academic backgrounds and professional expertise, and at the Reception alumni had the opportunity to (re-)connect with fellow alumni, Dutch higher education institutions, and the corporate sector. The first Reception was in Surabaya, and it took place in Four Points Hotel (Tunjungan Plaza). It was held after the Dutch Placement Day in Surabaya on November 6, 2018, and attended by 36 alumni and representatives from eight Dutch higher education institutions. The Reception was opened by Nuffic Neso Indonesia Director Peter van Tuijl, who described alumni activities and other Neso programmes that open opportunities for alumni to further develop their career. It was followed by presentations from Hanze University of Applied Sciences alumnus Widyoseno Estitoyo and Saxion University of Applied Sciences Kuswana Mandiri Septian about the importance of a sustainable alumni community and cooperation between alumni from different business sectors. At the Receptions alumni were also encouraged to be more involved in alumni activities associated with sharing of knowledge and expertise, to support a strong and mutually beneficial relationship between Indonesia and the Netherlands. This was done by asking the alumni to write down their opinion on how to develop a sustainable alumni community. For the complete set of photos from the evening, kindly go to our Facebook album here.
