Looking for Holland Career Ambassadors!

Alumni in Water, Energy and Climate

Career in Holland

Holland Career Ambassadors are young professionals living in the Netherlands who want to share their experiences with international students to promote working in the Netherlands and help them find their way on the Dutch labour market. As someone who has experienced it all: from orientation, job hunting, finding that first job and experiencing what it is like to work in the Netherlands, they are the best suited to guide international students in the same process. Do you feel you fit in this profile and are you enthusiastic to help international students with career advice and promote a career in Holland? Then we are looking for you!

About us

Nuffic is the Dutch organisation for internationalisation in education. From primary and secondary education to vocational and higher education and research. Our ambition is for every pupil and student to gain international experience. Because where different worlds come together, that is where the most amazing things happen. For more information about Nuffic, please visit our website

Who are we looking for?

International alumni who are currently working and living in the Netherlands with the following requirements:

  • Dutch study background;
  • Enthusiastic about Holland and happy to share career experiences;
  • Proactive and good communication skills;
  • Not scared to give a presentation for a big crowd;
  • Proficient in English;
  • Available for at least 1 year;
  • Work background in one of the Dutch Top Sectors, with a preference for:

             - Agriculture & Food

             - Water & Maritime

             - Energy

             - ICT

             - or work experience for a NGO in the areas of Human Rights and Security & Rule of Law.

What do we expect from you?

  • Availability for at least 4 career events a year;
  • Join the training on 18 September;
  • Flexibility to travel during work days and work hours;
  • Giving your personal twist and adding sector relevant information to the Career in Holland presentation that we provide you with;
  • Contribute to and answer questions of students in the Career in Holland community on the Holland Alumni network;
  • Give testimonials or interviews on your career experiences and do at least 1 Instagram take-over;
  • Help promote Holland Alumni network activities through social media.

How much time does it take?

This really depends on how many event requests we receive, but we expect you to be available for at least 4 career events a year. To make the career presentation as relevant as possible for the students, we try to match the study or work background of the ambassador to the audience of the career event. This means you might have to travel long distances. Career events usually take place in the afternoon and sometimes in the evening.

Next to career events you receive a training in September and will have a few (online) contact moments with Nuffic throughout the year.

What do I get?

The fulfilment of helping others, exposure of your career story and new friends! You will become part of the Holland Career Ambassadors team and meet new people throughout the year. Being a career ambassador is on voluntary basis so no monetary reward will be given. Travel fees for career events are refunded by the organising party and the travel fee for Nuffic events including the training are refunded by Nuffic.

Please send your resume and short motivation letter (max. 300 words) in 1 document to with "Application Holland Career Ambassador" in the subject line before August 28.  If you have relevant work experience, please also indicate this in your motivation letter. After you have sent these documents and we think there is a good fit, we would like to meet you in person for an interview. The interviews are planned on 4, 5 and 6 September and you are expected to give a 1-minute pitch promoting career in Holland through your career story. The final results will be communicated on September 11. Once you are selected, you will meet the other career ambassadors on September 18 when the training takes place. Note that taking part in this training is obligatory.

We hope to meet you soon!
