Nuffic recruiting more Holland Career Ambassadors

Are you an international alumni that has studied in the Netherlands and is currently working here? Or are you a Dutch alumni with international experience working in the Netherlands? Then you might be our new Holland Career Ambassador! We are looking for 7 new international Holland Career Ambassadors and 5 Dutch Holland Career ambassadors! Application deadline is May 13. 

Holland Career Ambassadors are Holland Alumni (Dutch study or work experience) who are enthusiastic about Holland and happy to share their experiences with students and future alumni. Currently, we have 23 active Holland Career Ambassadors with diverse backgrounds (nationality, study background, area of expertise and city).

The position of Holland Career Ambassador is a volunteer position, but we will reimburse most expenses incurred (eg. travel, etc.) by means of money transfer or gift cards.

The Holland Career Ambassador programme is initiated and supported by Nuffic, the organisation for internationalisation in education in the Netherlands. Nuffic not only provides information for studying in the Netherlands and for Dutch students studying abroad, we also offer scholarships, are responsible for diploma recognition, work on capacity building with other countries and facilitate the Holland Alumni network.  For more information about Nuffic, please visit our website

Who are we looking for?

7 International and 5 Dutch Holland Career Ambassadors

  • International Career Ambassador: international alumn working and living in NL (PhD study, internship, entrepreneur or employment)
  • Dutch Career Ambassador: Dutch alumn working in NL with international study and/or work experience
  • Enthusiastic about Holland and happy to share experiences and tips
  • Not scared to give a presentation for a big crowd
  • Proficient in English
  • Long-term commitment (a few years)
  • Preferably a background in one of the Dutch top sectors

What do we expect from you?

  • Time to join 2/3 events a year (some events may be scheduled during your work day)
  • Able to present information about rules and regulations, the Holland Alumni network,  Dutch business culture, how to find a job in the Netherlands and your career story (we provide you with the relevant information and presentations)
  • Willing to answer general questions from students via email, Skype or in person

Types of involvement

There are different kind of occasions for which  we ask your involvement:

  • Holland Alumni Career Cafes: informal get-togethers at a café where Holland Career Ambassadors their personal experiences and information on  rules and regulations and tips for a successful Dutch job hunt. Holland Alumni Career Cafes are organised by HAn-NL and take place in different cities thoughout the Netherlands, usually 3 or 4 times a year. 
  • National or regional career events: events organised by education institutions or organisations such as expat centers
  • Individual requests: individual requests from students or media such as newspapers that would like to interview you
  • Career story on website: your career story will be visible on our website. You can indicate yourself how you want to be available for contact: LinkedIn, Mail, Skype etc.
  • Training: we offer a training where you will learn presentation skills and learn more about rules and regulations and the Dutch labour market and recruitment principles, etc.

How much time does it take?

The amount of work really depends on your availability. However, we do expect you to be available for 2/3 events a year. We will mostly ask you for events that are related to you: same city/university, same nationality, same education background, etc.

What do I get?

New friends and wonderful experiences! You will become part of the enthusiastic Holland Career Ambassadors team and meet international students and interesting professionals throughout the year, eg. staff from institutions, embassies, the Dutch media or other organisations.
And, of course, do not forget to list your involvement with the Holland Career Ambassadors on your Linkedin profile and CV.

Being a career ambassador is on voluntary basis so no monetary reward will be given. Travel fees for career cafés will be refunded by HAn-NL and events of external parties will be refunded depending on that external party.


Please send your resume and short motivation letter (max. 300 words) in 1 document to with "Application Holland Career Ambassador" in the subject line before May 13

If you have relevant work experience, please also indicate this in your motivation letter. After we have received these documents and we think there is a good fit, we would like to meet you in person for an introductory talk. We will plan the interviews in week 21 and communicate the results in the start of week 22. Once you are selected, you will meet the other career ambassadors on June 3rd when the first training will take place. Note that taking part in this training is obligatory.
