Consumer goods giant Unilever has announced it plans to locate their global headquarters to Rotterdam! This is part of their plan to simplify its corporate structure by having only one single legal entity. Unilever currently employs 3,100 people in the Netherlands.

“Unilever’s focus on long-term value creation and on providing solutions for societal challenges such as food security fits well with the Netherlands’ vision,” said the Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy Eric Wiebes. “The company is a prominent proponent of public-private knowledge and innovation projects in the agri/food sector. That’s why it’s good news that Unilever has now chosen for a future based here. It guarantees that over time, the company will continue to contribute to the Dutch economy and our innovative ecosystem. This contributes to more jobs and prosperity in the Netherlands.”

Eric Wiebes credits Unilever’s choice for the Netherlands to the attractive business climate. “This decision shows that the Netherlands is an attractive business location for internationally-operating organizations. That is good news, because there is strong international competition for headquarters and R&D centers and it is the Dutch government’s ambition to position our business climate as strongly as possible.”
