Antonio Matamoros

I am a Biologist with a Master's degree in Geography from Arizona State University in Natural Resources Management. and more than 20 years of administrative, financial, and technical experience in management, implementation, and monitoring of large projects on forests, water resources, biodiversity conservation, climate, environmental policies, and sustainable development. Among those 20 years, 9 were in the Amazon Region of Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, My extensive experience in working in leading positions and managing teams has provided me with excellent skills in areas related to any organization such as those related to Climate Change, Environment, Water Resources Management, Protected Areas, International Cooperation, Negotiations, and Fundraising at national, regional, and international levels.

Dealing with environmental negotiations was part of my duties in the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) and also was during my tenure with the Ministry of Environment of Ecuador. I worked on the Biodiversity National Strategy and Action Plan of Ecuador, the Andean-Community Biodiversity Strategy, and the Amazon Regional Biodiversity Strategic Plan being directly in charge to build synergies and negotiate with different actors involved in both plans to reach the necessary consensus to move forward.

In addition, I have a passion to work with environmental issues, which makes me a committed and loyal professional with proven skills to lead teams towards the best results for any Organization. With interest in working in a leadership position for an organization with great ideals and a high profile related to environmental conservation, advocacy, and cooperation,

At the end of my three years’ term as Administrative Director, the last budget report of resources administered by the ACTO Secretariat was presented to the ACTO Member Countries, by sources: Member Countries $US 17,784,164.00 M // Donor’s cooperation. $US 22,607.82 M with a TOTAL $US 40,391,992.00 Million.
