Delivering on SDG 17: Going further, together

Online
The registration deadline has expired.

The Task Team on CSO Development Effectiveness and Enabling Environment is co-hosting a virtual side event with The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland on the margins of the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.

This side event will focus on the crucial role civil society organizations (CSOs) must play in the implementation of SDG 17 (global partnership), and with that, all SDGs. It will show there are serious gaps between what has been agreed internationally and what happens in practice.

During this side event, an independent study (report to be published on the Task Team CSO websiteOpens external on 1 July 2020) by the International Institute of Social Studies will be presented which includes the finding that large parts of civil society, especially those that are not part of the typical aid communities in the capitals, are not sufficiently engaged in the SDGs and consultations at the country level.

Programme

This side event will be hosted by the Government of Ireland, as Co-chair of the Task Team, with contributions from:

  • Kenya (TBC)
  • Canada (TBC)
  • the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE)
  • the OECD

The opening address will likely be given by a senior level representative from the Government of Ireland, followed by a keynote address from Mr. Clément Voule, UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights to Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association.
