Why I started my career in the Netherlands
From my experience I can say that the free spirit of the Dutch culture and the combination of innovation and tradition offer me many opportunities to explore new experiences and rediscover myself. In many situations, learning and working in the Dutch society is mixed with fun and enjoyment. I’ve decided to start my career here due to the support received.
A typical work week
I don’t have a typical work week. Every day is very dynamic and I try to respond to opportunities when they are presented to me. For me, it is important to stay diverse and be active in all kinds of activities such as: meet-up, workshops, pitches, conferences and keeping my overall mental and physical health in balance.
A cool project is working in collaboration with UDiverse as a Business developer in the area of career coaching. The project enables to work with my strengths and meet lovely people that are working with passion. I love to be part of a community that enjoy what they are doing and inspires other people to pursue their dreams.
What I like about the Dutch work mentality
The Netherlands has an egalitarian society in the sense that every person is equal and should be heard, characterized by a high level of assertiveness. They take full responsibility of their consequences and want to have detailed information in general about any activity that they are involved in. They are open and direct people and they expect everybody else to be open and direct. They love to have a work life balance and organised time consciously. Work and private life are strictly separated. They dare to take risks in business and have an adventurous mind-set: which makes them very good in improvising.
My career advice to you
Choose a career or job in the area in which you are using the skills you enjoy. Even though not every job needs to address all of your passions, use every job as an opportunity to explore and learn something new. You may discover that you really enjoy things that you never imagined would appeal to you. Every person you meet can be an open door for a new opportunity - personally or professionally. Build good bridges with everybody, you’ll never know how they’ll weave into the larger picture of your life.
