The website www.hollandalumni.nl is a social and professional network owned by the Holland Alumni network which is an initiative of Nuffic, allowing students and alumni from Dutch education institutions and partner organisations to stay connected to the Netherlands for life. The aim of the network is to enhance the network opportunities for alumni of Dutch education institutions in their field of expertise and/or their country of residence, to refresh and exchange knowledge and to provide career opportunities for alumni.
This privacy statement discloses what personal information the Holland Alumni network collects, who has access to it, how it is used, how you can change and erase your information and how you can request us to erase your data (art. 16 and 17 General Data Protection Regulation). The policy applies to all the services offered by the Holland Alumni network website.
Information collected on www.hollandalumni.nl
The Holland Alumni network collects personal information through the registration process of the website www.hollandalumni.nl and through scholarship application processes by Nuffic. Applicants give their consent to process their data for Holland alumni purposes, stated below. Additional personal information may be collected through event registration, user profile completion, and community registration.
The personal information that is collected may include, but is not limited to:
- Email address
- Telephone number
- Country of residence
- Date of birth
- Marital status
- Skills and interests
Purpose of information collection
The collected information may be used for the following purposes:
- To communicate with users of the platform
- To maintain contact with and enable contact between users of the platform
- To send out surveys for research purposes
- To offer career-related services
- For event organisation and registration
- To enable networking opportunities between users of the platform and/or between users of the platform and partners of the Holland Alumni network
- For trend analysis and statistics
- To protect the rights or property of the Holland Alumni network platform or its users
- To provide, maintain, protect and improve services, and develop new services
If we use this information in a manner other than the purpose for which it was collected, we will ask for your consent prior to such use.
Information access and sharing
The personal information registered on www.hollandalumni.nl is accessible to other platform users, Nuffic employees, third-party partner organisations such as ministries, educational institutions, Dutch Embassies and consulates, scholarship providers, and alumni associations, as well as commercial employers and human resource/recruitment agencies.
Your data is accessible within and outside the European Economic Area. The legal grounds for the processing of your personal data are your consent and the legal grounds of the commissioning data controllers, such as the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Nuffic is their data processor.
Your rights with regard to your personal data
We act in good faith to provide you with access to your personal information and to correct this data if it is inaccurate or to delete such data. You can also request us to erase your data if it does not otherwise need to be retained by law or for evaluation purposes. To request your data, please contact us via the contact form on the website.
As a registered user of the platform you commit yourself to only use the platform for its intended purposes of networking, knowledge-exchange and career advancement in relation to your status as alumnus or student of a Dutch education institution. The Holland Alumni network reserves the right, at its own discretion, to block any user that does not use the platform for its intended purpose from using the platform. As a registered user of the platform, you commit yourself to not disclosing any of the personal information that is provided by other alumni.
We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. These measures include internal reviews of our data collection, storage and processing practices and other security measures, including appropriate encryption and physical protection measures, to guard against unauthorized access to systems where we store personal data.
If you find that your personal data or that of other alumni are being abused or lost, you should report this immediately to the contact person of the Holland alumni network at email@example.com. so that we can take required measures.
Unsubscribe from mailings
By registering, you agree to receive emails in relation to the purposes mentioned in this policy. In order to unsubscribe from mailings while remaining registered in the Holland Alumni network database, please adjust your preferences through the Notifications section of your profile.
After you unsubscribe from our mailing list you will no longer receive mailings from the Holland Alumni network, but you will continue to be able to log in to the Holland Alumni network and make use of its functions.
Unsubscribe from the database
To unsubscribe from the Holland Alumni network database, please contact us via the contact form on the website.
After you unsubscribe your personal information will no longer be visible in the Holland Alumni network database nor will you receive any mailings or communications from the Holland Alumni network.
Personal data will be stored in the context of alumni communications until such time as we are advised of your death, you unsubscribe from the network or you request otherwise. Because of the way we maintain certain services, residual copies may remain on our active servers for some time before they are deleted, and they may remain in our backup systems following your unsubscribing from the Holland Alumni network.
